What's new

Changelog

New features and improvements, version by version. Update straight from the app (top of the menu when a new version is out) or from the site.

2.4 · July 2026

  • A proper "render done" moment. When your DaVinci render finishes overnight, the screen turns into a calm done screen with a check, the project name and whether your Mac stayed cool, plus a gentle chime, so you catch it from the next room too.

2.3.1 · July 2026

  • Cleaner updates. An update now reliably replaces the running version (previously the old app could stay open alongside the new one), and the downloaded file carries the correct version number in its name.

2.3 · July 2026

  • DaVinci Resolve in Render Mode. While a render runs, Helmlet now shows live progress (percent, job x/y, project name) right on the monitor and tells you when it's done. Other apps don't expose their progress externally, so the bar only appears there.

2.2 · July 2026

  • Render Mode. One switch for overnight renders: keeps the Mac, network and drives awake, cools on Balanced, and dims the screen to a calm full-screen monitor with live temperatures. If it gets too hot along the way, a warning is waiting when you come back, so you don't miss it.

2.1 · July 2026

  • Reopen reminder. If closed-lid keep-awake is still on and you open the lid, Helmlet quickly asks whether to keep it running, so you don't leave it on by accident.

2.0 · June 2026

  • Keep working, lid closed. The Mac keeps running with the lid shut, no external display needed, even on battery.
  • Smart Cooling. Fan curves (Silent, Balanced, Max) that kick in earlier than macOS.
  • Live Cockpit. CPU and GPU temperature with a throttling warning.
  • App automation. "While Final Cut is running, stay awake and cool."
  • Keep drives awake. External drives stay mounted overnight.
